What Does the Brain in Human Body Do

Our brains are truly amazing organs. They store our memories, control our thoughts and feelings, and give us the capacity to have experiences and interact.

with the world around us in countless ways. We often take these things for granted because they are an integral part of who we are, but it’s important to recognize how incredibly complex the brain truly is and how powerful it can be if we let it.



Structure of the brain

The brain can be broadly divided into three parts, namely, cerebrum, cerebellum and brain stem. The main functions of these three parts are as follows.


Cerebrum is considered to be composed of left and right cerebral hemispheres that are separated by a deep groove called Inter-hemispheric fissure.


Each hemisphere is further subdivided into four sections: frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobes.


This part has also been called Neocortex. The cortex is responsible for higher mental activity such as cognition and understanding language.


Damage to any of these areas could result in paralysis or amnesia (lack of memory). 


Cerebellum is located at the back of brain below its two large bumps known as ‘cerebral peduncles’. It controls body movements and posture. 


 Brain stem consists of midbrain, pons and medulla oblongata. Midbrain connects pons with forebrain while pons connects medulla oblongata with cerebrum.


Medulla oblongata contains centers that control heart rate, breathing rate etc.


which are collectively known as autonomic nervous system.


The major functions of ANS include control over digestion, blood pressure etc.


which happen without our conscious effort  For example, if you suddenly see a snake on your way to office and start running, your heart rate


 increases and you start breathing fast as your body prepares itself for 


Similarly, when you are asleep and your stomach is empty, it sends signals to brain that makes you feel hungry and thus wakes up so that you can go to kitchen and eat something.


All these activities are regulated by ANS (autonomic nervous system). Medulla oblongata also contains nuclei that help regulate automatic actions such as respiration (breathing), circulation (blood flow) etc.


The working of the brain

The brain is located inside your head. The human brain is divided into two halves, left and right.


 These are connected by a group of nerve fibres, called corpus callosum. Each half of your brain controls movement and sensation on one side of your body.


The brain also acts as a kind of switchboard or control centre for all of our body's movements and sensations 


without it we wouldn't be able to move or feel anything. To function normally, we need to maintain a constant supply of oxygen through our blood vessels and nerves.


 When you're asleep, there's very little that actually happens inside your head - but you don't wake up!


The complexity of our brain

The human brain is one of our most complicated organs, and for centuries we have tried to figure out what it does. But let’s start at the beginning


The brain is essentially made up of neurons, cells that specialize in receiving messages, transmitting information to other cells, and processing data. Because neurons are so important to human


 functioning (and because they outnumber all other cells combined), many scientists agree that they’re where our most complex behaviors come from.


 Without them, we wouldn’t be able to think critically or form memories—and there would be no way for our bodies to learn new tasks or respond properly during.


This makes sense because our brains are responsible for everything from breathing and swallowing to balancing ourselves on two feet and speech.
